
The United States of the World Foundation and its Mediterranean Foundation presented the prestigious “Mediterranean Award for Social Solidarity 2025” to Ms. Amina Bouayach, Chairperson of Morocco’s National Human Rights Council (CNDH), today, January 10, 2025, at its headquarters in Naples, Italy.
This award, a prestigious work crafted by Italian artist Mario Molinari, stands as a sublime totem for peace and coexistence. At the award ceremony, Prof. Michele Capasso, United States of the World Foundation Secretary-General, along with the Mediterranean Award international jury, Prof. Abdelhak Azzouzi, President of the Council of Ambassadors of the Foundation and Chair of the Alliance of Civilizations, commended Ms. Bouayach’s tireless efforts in the field of human rights, emphasizing how her work resonates profoundly.

Born in Tetouan, a city in northern Morocco shaped by Andalusian culture and the serene Mediterranean climate, Ms. Bouayach embodies the values of understanding, solidarity, an appreciation for beauty, and an enduring optimism for the future.
A tireless human rights defender, Ms. Bouayach has spent decades on the ground, amplifying the voices of peace and respect for human dignity. She has worked globally to address the rights of women and children—often among those marginalized and whose rights are violated—as well as those on the fringes of society who are frequently weakened by indifference and disregard. Her unwavering passion for justice and equality is fueled by an extraordinary drive to combat injustice.
Early in her career, Ms. Bouayach distinguished herself through her exceptional organizational skills and outstanding leadership. She mobilized for noble causes and brought complex human rights issues to the forefront of national and international agendas. Her credibility within civil society structures remains consistently strong, garnering widespread respect and consensus.
Her appointment by His Majesty King Mohammed VI as CNDH President reflects a distinguished career marked by significant responsibilities, including her roles as Vice President of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI), Vice President and Secretary General of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), and member of the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty.
Additionally, Ms. Bouayach has demonstrated exceptional diplomatic skills, a profound sense of duty, and remarkable abilities in listening, discernment, and cooperation. This was evidenced by her appointment by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to key positions, including as Morocco’s Ambassador to Sweden and Latvia.
